Mr. Charles Vaillant serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Digital Officer of MANN+HUMMEL, where he is responsible for new technologies, corporate ventures capital (CVC), digital ventures, Big Data analytics and digital transformation.  He joined MANN+HUMMEL in 1997 and has held a variety of positions in the areas of program management, product engineering, strategy, M&A and corporate development.

 

In 2015, Charles established a start-up company, i2m LLC, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to accelerate the commercialization of new MANN+HUMMEL technologies in the fields of clean air, clean water, energy and life science. During 2016, he created the MANN+HUMMEL IoT Lab (Internet of Things) in Singapore to advance the digitalization of filtration products.  Later in 2016, Charles launched MANN+HUMMEL Corporate Ventures, an initiative to make strategic investments in Technology Start-ups, with a focus on Silicon Valley.  From this focus, his team brought to market the first IoT solution for air filter and maintenance remote monitoring in 2018.  As well in 2018, Charles implemented the company’s InCube program, which is a one-of-kind Intrapreneurship program enabling M+H employees to work in Silicon Valley to create and launch new digital business ventures.  In 2019, Charles launched i2m GmbH to develop and commercialize breakthrough technologies for stationary energy storage solutions with a focus on renewal energies and EV (electric vehicles) fast-charging stations. Since 2020, Charles assumes the additional responsibility of Chief Digital Officer of MANN+HUMMEL, leading digital transformation initiatives, Big Data Analytics and the governance of the company’s Digital Strategy.

 

Charles earned an Automotive Engineering degree from LTR Eiffel (France), a Master’s degree in Industrial Marketing from ESIDEC (France) and an M.B.A from the University of Michigan Ross Business School (USA).  He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.
